It’s called the New Forest, but it’s been around since 1079 when William The Conqueror needed a forest to indulge his passion for hunting.
The New Forest National Park covers 566 km2 (219 sq. mi) across Hampshire and Wiltshire.
The New Forest includes numerous forest trails for walking and cycling. A number of quintessentially English villages, a world-famous motoring museum and a historic ship-building site where the ships for Nelson’s navy were built. and native ponies. In the southeast, the National Motor Museum houses F1 race cars and vintage motorbikes. Famous for its wild ponies the New Forest is also home to owls, otters and wolves.
